Call for Donations to Help Elie Salibi

Dear Fellow Conservative,

Please donate today to the Ottawa South Conservative Association (OSCA) to support your Conservative candidate, Elie Salibi.

With an election looming, we need to make sure Elie has all the funds necessary to fight David McGuinty. Elie is currently in the process of setting up his campaign office, which requires a substantial amount of money, and this is why we are writing to you today.

Your pre-writ (pre-election) donation to OSCA will be transferred to the Salibi campaign. The maximum donation you can make each calendar year to OSCA is $1100. Receipts for tax credits will be issued for all donations, and are eligible for a 75% credit for the first $400, 50% for $401-$750, and 33% for $750 to $1100.

To donate, go to our Donate Form and left-click on the form. The form should enlarge; print it, fill it out (including signature and mail it to 301-2446 Bank St. Ottawa ON K1V 1A8). Cheques should be made out to the Ottawa South Conservative Association. Or, call 613-733-4390 for a credit donation.

If you can’t make a financial contribution, please fill out our volunteer form as volunteer efforts as just as valuable as financial contributions. Our volunteer sign up form can be found at: http://ottawasouth.ca/volunteer/. We also encourage you to order an Elie Salibi lawn sign by requesting one at 613-733-4390.

With your support, we can put a Conservative MP in Parliament and give Ottawa South a voice IN government.

I thank you for your time and hope you will make a much-needed donation.

Annual General Meeting/Delegate Selection Meeting a Success!

Members of OSCA attended the annual general meeting and delegate selection meeting (AGM & DSM) on March 10, 2011. We were very pleased to select the delegates who will be attending the June 2011 Conservative policy conference here in Ottawa. We were also pleased to hear about the Board of Directors’ accomplishments over the past year, and elect the new Board of Directors for the next year.

OSCA was pleased to hear from Elie Salibi, Ottawa South’s Conservative candidate, about his plans to take Ottawa South from the incumbent MP, who is out of touch with everyday Ottawa South residents. “It’s time to end the McGuinty family nepotism in Ottawa South,” says Salibi. “We need a new MP – one that stands for tax cuts, helping local businesses, protecting families, and getting tough on crime.”

OSCA was also pleased to hear from Jason MacDonald, Ottawa South’s Progressive Conservative candidate for the upcoming provincial election. MacDonald, like Salibi, was clear on the need to end the McGuinty reign in Ottawa South, this time referring to Dalton, David’s brother.

Both of these incredibly strong candidates will take Ottawa South from the job-killing, high tax Liberals in their next respective elections.

Elie Salibi Confirmed as Ottawa South Conservative Candidate

Elie Salibi has been confirmed by the Conservative Party and the Ottawa South Board of Directors to be Ottawa South’s Conservative candidate in the next federal election.

Elie was educated in Ottawa, where he earned an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa. He has served as Policy Advisor to Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, and also spent more than 12 years working in progressively senior roles at Ottawa high technology firms such as Corel, including Director of International Sales. He is also fluent in English, French, and Arabic – Ottawa South’s primary languages.

Elie will be a strong candidate against incumbent Liberal MP David McGuinty, who represents the Liberal plan of reckless spending, job-killing tax hikes, and erratic policy changes that would threaten Canada’s fragile economic recovery.

“The next election will be about values – whether our children will be saddled with an expensive coalition of leftists and separatists, or whether conservative values will prevail,” Salibi said at his confirmation.

Elie ran as the Ottawa South Conservative candidate in the 2008 election. He is truly a community leader, being involved in several community events including neighbourhood watch, serving as Vice President of the parish council at St. Elias Orthodox Church, and in the past served as Director of Political affairs in the Lebanese Information Centre.

More information regarding Elie and his campaign can be found at www.eliesalibi.ca and stay tuned to www.ottawasouth.ca.

Annual General Meeting and Delegate Selection Meeting (AGM & DSM)

OSCA’s Delegate Selection Meeting (DSM) will be held on March 10, 2011, in Elwood Hall at the Jim Durrell Arena (1265 Walkley Rd) and will be followed immediately by the OSCA Annual General Meeting (AGM). Doors will open at 6:00 pm for registration, with the DSM taking place from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, and the AGM starting at 7:30 pm.

At the DSM, OSCA members will select our representatives to attend the 2011 Conservative Policy Convention which will take place in Ottawa from June 9 to 11, 2011. The convention promises to be an exciting one where you we will all have our say on important policy and constitutional considerations for the Party. There are limited numbers of representatives from each Riding Association across Canada although others may attend as observers. If you are interested in becoming an OSCA delegate, you may wish to call the President at 613-266-8792 or email deanmorin@sympatico.ca for more information.

At the AGM, members will have a chance to learn more about OSCA’s activities over the last year and plan for this year. We also will be electing OSCA’s 2011-2012 Board of Directors and members will be asked to approve the 2009 audited financial statements, the unaudited 2010 financials, hear a report from the current Board and approve our Auditor for the coming year. For more information or to volunteer your assistance for the Annual General Meeting, please call 613.820.9919 or email michaelmcneil@rogers.com .

Both of these events are important and we encourage you to attend.
